The North-South highway construction project includes five phases. Phase I (Yerevan-Artashat, Yerevan-Ashtarak): length = about 31 km, completed in 2016. Contractor: Corsan Corviam Construccion S.A., Spain. Financing: $70.4 million, including a loan from Asian Development Bank ($60 million). Phase II (Ashtarak-Talin): length = about 42 km. Financing: $179.6 million, including a loan from Asian Development Bank ($170 million). Construction was suspended by the contractor; a new tender is expected in late 2021. Phase III (Talin-Landzhik): length = about 18.7 km. Financing: $132.4 million, including a loan from Asian Development Bank ($100 million). Contractor: Sinohydro Corporation, China. Phase III (Lanjik-Gyumri): length = about 27.5 km. Financing: EUR 74 million, including a loan and grant from European Investment Bank (EUR 70 million and EUR 12 million, respectively). Completion of phase III construction operations: 2023. Phase IV (Artashat-Sisian, Sisian-Kajaran): length = about 235 km. Financing: loan from Eurasian Development Bank ($150 million). Phase V: (Gyumri-Gyumri-Bavra bypass road): length = 60 km.
